The German Bundestag will hold a Ceremony of Remembrance on Friday, 27 January 2023 for the victims of National Socialism. This year, the focus is on those who were persecuted by the Nazis as a result of their sexual orientation or their gender identity.

Bundestag President Bärbel Bas will open the Ceremony of Remembrance at 10.00 a.m. with a speech. She will then give the floor to the Holocaust survivor Rozette Kats, who will give a commemorative speech, followed by Klaus Schirdewahn, who will speak to the plenary as a representative of the queer community. Actors Jannik Schümann and Maren Kroymann will also read texts by two victims, whose life stories provide examples of the persecution of sexual minorities under National Socialism.

The Ceremony of Remembrance will be broadcast live on Parliamentary Television and online at www.bundestag.de.
