Germany is a land full of tourist highlights. Impressive landscapes, major cities, conurbations, coasts, mountains, rivers, lakes – the country is characterised by its great diversity. So it is no surprise that ‘staycations’ are becoming ever more popular among German citizens, while foreign guests also enjoy spending their holidays here. Tourism therefore makes a decisive contribution to Germany’s image in the world, and is a major employer and engine of economic growth with a prosperous future. With its 19 members, the Committee on Tourism reflects this significance. It works to create a favourable environment for the tourism sector, and seeks to ensure global trends are recognised promptly and incorporated into German marketing strategies.
