The work of the Committee on Transport affects everyone because there are millions of people travelling around Germany every day: for work, privately, in towns and cities, in the countryside, regionally and across national borders. Germany is both an important place to do business and a hub for European passenger and goods traffic. Its transport infrastructure is a central factor in this position. Draft bills relating to this field are discussed by the 34 members of the Committee before they are voted on in the plenary. Hearings can be conducted on them by the Committee in order to obtain detailed information and assessments from expert witnesses.
