Committees

Whether it is legislation on legal policy relating to family, copyright or criminal law: the 39 members of the Committee on Legal Affairs discuss diverse topics that affect all Germany’s citizens, helping to draw up basic legal rules for coexistence in society. The Committee’s work is increasingly dominated by EU legal policy, for neither trade nor crime halt at national borders. Furthermore, the Committee deliberates on amendments to the Basic Law, and on how the German Bundestag should respond to cases brought before the Federal Constitutional Court.
