Artistic creativity and a well-informed public are the life blood of a democratic society. Culture and media need suitable conditions in order to flourish independently and diversely. The right framework needs to be in place at national, European and global level. The 19 members of the Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs are responsible for the whole range of related topics at federal level. For example, they monitor the Federal Government’s cultural funding policy, deliberate on the future of the Deutsche Welle public broadcasting corporation and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, play a role in decisions on national film support and discuss the promotion of historical learning sites of national significance.
